What is a Compliant Fire Doorset?

A fire doorset is a fully compliant system made up of all the components required for the door to function correctly, including the door leaf, frame, seals, hinges and ironmongery.

Unlike individual fire rated products, a doorset is tested as a complete assembly. This ensures every component works together as intended to achieve a specific fire rating.

True compliance comes from the full system (not just the door) - and relies on correct manufacture, installation and traceability throughout.

A compliant doorset is:
• Manufactured to a tested specification
• Installed to manufacturer requirements
• Traceable and identifiable

Using Fire Door Blanks & Off the Shelf Doors

Fire door blanks can be compliant when they are part of a correctly specified and installed doorset.

However, they must be handled in line with strict manufacturer guidelines.
For a fire door to
remain compliant:
The door must be the correct size for the opening
Only limited material can be trimmed from the edges (as specified by the manufacturer)
The frame sizing and rebate must match the test evidence of the door core
All ironmongery, glazing systems & size has to match what has been tested with the core
Intumescent and smoke seals must be installed correctly
The correct rating must be used and installation must follow tested specifications
Clearances and gap tolerances must be correctly maintained around the door
Common Reasons Fire Doors Fail:
Too much material has been removed from the door
Incorrect fire rating, components and/or glazing systems have been fitted
The doorset has not been installed as a complete, tested system
Fire doors are not standard joinery items. Incorrect alterations or installation can void certification and lead to non-compliance.
Off the shelf fire doors generally have very little tolerance for fitting purpose, so installing becomes impractical.
Certification & Traceability

All compliant fire doors must be traceable back to their manufacturer and certification scheme.

Our doorsets are supplied with unique identification labels on both the door and frame, linking directly to manufacturing and installation records to confirm compliance.
Using our Fire Door Management System, every doorset is digitally tracked through RFID tagging, with installation details, inspections, photos and real time reporting all held in one secure system.

Each door is given a verified digital identity, bringing together O&M information, drawings and production data into a single, traceable record.

This provides complete visibility from factory through to installation and ongoing maintenance, ensuring every doorset remains compliant throughout its lifecycle.
